I have been a member of CFRI for over two years now and it’s the local education and network that I have used to build my business success! The most ethical and competent business members are found here. Thanks to active members like you, and our strong mission statement, we ensure that quality prevails!
I have been an investor, part-time to full-time, since 2003. Before that I was a working diver for SeaWorld, Discovery Cove, and for a short time Oceaneering/NASA. For almost 5 years, I got paid to blow bubbles underwater! Sure it was fun, but now I am my own boss. I have a Bachelors Degree in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry. I’ve had a passion for architecture since high school and I love to be outdoors and fix stuff, so that naturally led to me being the rehabber I am now.
As your 2010 secretary, I hope to lend my organization skills and ideas to continue to make this award-winning association one that you are proud to belong to, and are excited to share with others.
Leroy Walwyn has been investing in real estate since 2001 and has been an active Loan Officer and Mortgage Broker since 1993. Leroy proudly serves as the 2009 Treasurer and co-leads the Osceola Sub-Group. He prides himself in finding solutions for Sellers, Buyers and Investors.
Thanks for making CFRI a part of real estate investment education. There is a wealth of knowledge in CFRI so take advantage of it. When I started I was afraid of making mistakes, but I took the chance and started investing. If I came across a problem, I’d share it with the other members and sure enough they’d have a solution for me. Attend as many meetings as you can in areas that interest you. No one is perfect; You will make mistakes and still make money. There will be good and bad days. Favorite Quote: “Why not go out on a limb? Upon moving to Central Florida from New York 5 years ago, my husband, Augie, and I started investing in real estate full time. Since then we have bought, renovated and sold, rented or lease optioned over 100 properties. Augie focuses on the real estate investment business, coaching real estate students, and presenting seminars and workshops locally and nationally. I 'stage' houses for sale, the leader of R E Investing 101 focus group, and I am also on the Board of the National Real Estate Investors Association.
My goal as Programming Director is to bring quality speakers and programs to our members, both new and experienced. In 2009, we will start using webinars, where some members will learn real estate investment techniques from the comfort of their own home or office, while others can be at our Lake Mary training facility and learn on site. Webinars will allow CFRI to achieve our education goals and expand our reach to all 7 counties. Also in 2009, we will ensure we have more Professional Housing Provider programs so members can earn their PHP certificate this year.
If anyone has any questions/comments/suggestions on Programming or anything else CFRI can be doing, please let me know. I'm always interested in how we can make CFRI the best REIA in the nation! (By the way, in 2007, CFRI won the National REIA Overall Award for Excellence and in 2008, we won two awards; Membership and Communications.)
Thanks for allowing me to serve as your Marketing Director. My goal for this year is to continue CFRI’s development in membership communications as the leading REIA in the nation by (1) rebranding and improving the value of our monthly newsletter, (2) increasing the usability and reach of our email communications, (3) increasing our online and social media presence, and (4) rebranding our website. These are areas where CFRI is charting new territory among REIAs, and I hope to work with you as we move forward!
CFRI is unlike anything else you’ll find out there. Like many of you, I was immediately drawn in by the quality of the people involved with the group. I started off attending Real Estate 101, and am now nearing completion of the PHP program. In 2007, I served the Legislative Committee as a monitor. In 2008 I was a volunteer on the Marketing Committee, and in 2009 was tapped to serve on the Board as the Legislative Director. Now in 2010 I am proud to serve as Marketing Director. The resources that we have here are unbelievable, and I enthusiastically encourage you take advantage of the tremendous value CFRI offers!
